The site-specific performance Rise Again, Rise My Dust was created specifically for the once-famous Ostravice department store, now hermetically sealed from passers-by. The Tantehorse theater ensemble, together with Ostrava dancers and actors, embarks upon a journey—searching for meaning in the middle of emptiness. The genius loci of the sentimental past meets the crisis of the present and finds an answer in the spiritual ground of Gustav Mahler’s music. A dreamy resurrection—as monumental as Mahler’s symphony, and as intimate as the muffled bustle of the street—soars and whispers into dead space. Life and death revolve. No one knows what He started with, but it is certain that it does not end today.
