Denisa Musilova
Denisa Musilova (she/her) is an award-winning immigrant performer and choreographer who creates introspective, movement-based experiences in which psychological struggles are given physical form.
Musilova is a 2023 BAC Artist-in-Residence whose works have been presented at The Tank, Dixon Place, Movement Research, La MaMa, NY Butoh Festival, 92nd Street Y, LATEA Theater, Rehearsal for Truth Theater Festival, Voices International Theater Festival, Next@Graham, Czech Center NY, Triskelion Arts, SOAK Festival, Venuše ve Švehlovce Theater, and Theater Akropolis.
She was commissioned as part of Susan Marshall’s 2018 Prototypes, was selected as a 2019 NDA LiftOff Artist and for a 2022 Watermill Center Alumni Mini-Retreat, having performed at Robert Wilson’s Watermill Gala in 2019.
Musilova choreographed “Swing Heil” and “Pomlčka” directed by Iveta Ditte Jurčová; the musical “Branický Zázrak,” directed by Academy Award-winning director Jan Svěrák; “Quixote;” directed by Mark DeChiazza for Peak Performances at Montclair State University; and Amy Beth Kristen’s “Savior;” which premiered at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In the Czech Republic, Musilova choreographs for the Horácké Theater Jihlava and has collaborated on works for DEKKADANCERS, Theater Bílá Holubice, and Tantehorse.
